|America, fuck yeah

With the mid-term elections going on, I can't help but give my point of view. I'm european, so I believe I have a bit of a less biased view upon the politics of America than some who are smack dead in the middle do.|
I've been following some of the campaigning going on and I can only say that I'm severely dissapointed in how your news, your media handles it all. I've seen some very bad people, make some very untrue statements (read: lies), and they just managed to do that without them being corrected, without anyone in the media calling them out on it.
It's a shame that I have to say that this mostly happened on the Republican side of things, they could say anything without it being any problem. In the Clinton era they called him out on "anything and everything" they could, sure he did some bad things, but they turned every stone to make him look as bad as possible, a lot of which made no sense.
Bush on the other hand, got nearly none of that, Bush actually did criminal things, really bad things, he actually lied multiple times, really obviously. But he barely got any slaps in the face for it.
Back to Obama, wham, same system as with Clinton. Every stone is turned over to make him seem like some kind of demon. At the frontline of this are people like Rush Limbaugh, who has called Obama so many names, it's just a miracle that he's still around. (Remember how in the Bush era, all republicans shouted death and murder when someone criticised the president, because well, we need to support the American leader... Where did that go?)
This is not an irregular incident, the republican party has gotten angrier, more stupid and even violent in their anti-democrat ways.
So the republicans, anti government, pro company bastards vs the other side.
And sadly enough, the other side is mostly cowards. Where the Republicans are the party of no, when they stand for something, they throw everything in the fight to get it done, no matter how evil or horrible it may be.
The democrats have never seemed to posses that kind of spirit, compromise is the name of the game, and it's a bit of a sad game, because it means that most of their ideas only partially have the benefit that it intended to have in the first place. When they get challenged, they tend to mumble and shut up, or try to reason and compromise.
The problem is, if the guys you're trying to compromise with, are a bunch of assholes, well. It's like trying to compromise with the bully. You promise him some of the money you have, just so you can keep the rest and still buy half a lunch. Problem is, the bully might just try and steal the rest as well.
Alright, sleepy time, those are my two cents, cut off abrubtly there. I do still hope the democrats win though, because if the republicans win, it's going to end up being bad for America, which in turn will eventually be bad for the rest of the world as well.
